Save the Sanctuary: Rebuild Pigeon & Dove Rehab

Donation protected
Hi, I’m fundraising to rebuild a pigeon and dove rescue and rehab sanctuary that I created with my grandfather at his home before he died.

The landlord is now selling the property, which means I have to close the sanctuary where it currently exists. I do have my own home with a large garden, so moving isn’t the problem. The problem is rebuilding the setup properly from scratch, and doing it to a standard that is safe for vulnerable birds.

This sanctuary has never just been “somewhere for pigeons to live.” It’s a rehab space, and I already care for disabled and flightless birds. That means the new setup must be disability-accommodated by design, not as an afterthought. Disabled birds need safe layouts, low-access perching, ramps, stable landings, non-slip surfaces, easy-clean areas, and secure separation when needed. A standard aviary setup can actually be unsafe for them.

This fundraiser is for the set-up costs so the rescue work doesn’t end here, and so the birds in my care can transition safely.

What your donations will rebuild

  • Predator-proof outdoor aviary housing
  • A proper quarantine system for new intakes so illness cannot spread
  • A dedicated indoor rehab and disabled-bird setup for birds who cannot live outside
  • Disability-friendly adaptations like ramps, low perches, safe flooring, rest platforms, accessible feeding stations, and safer handling spaces
  • Essential materials like timber, secure locks, and heavy-gauge mesh, plus the basics needed to run safely

Even £3 helps, because it genuinely goes towards essentials like timber, fixings, locks, and aviary mesh.

Fundraising goal and stretch goals

Goal: £7,500
This covers the essentials to rebuild safely: secure outdoor housing, quarantine, and an indoor disability-accommodated rehab area.

Stretch goal: £10,000
More hospital cages and better weatherproofing within the same footprint (roof/wind protection, drainage, stronger hardware and locks, and extra biosecurity supplies).

Stretch goal: £12,500
A more robust indoor build and improved quarantine system, with further disability-friendly adaptations like safer flooring, improved access routes, and better temperature control.

Stretch goal: £15,000
Long-term sustainability upgrades so the rebuild lasts for years, including stronger materials and resilience equipment for emergencies.

I’ll post updates as the rebuild progresses and be transparent about where funds are going. If you can donate, I’m genuinely grateful. If you can’t, sharing this fundraiser helps just as much.

Thank you for helping me continue the rescue work and carry my grandfather’s legacy forward.
