My name is Pipi and I am a 16-year-old student at Matthew Flinders Anglican College. I will be shaving my head for the 'Cuts for a Cause' fundraiser to help raise funds for Bloomhill Cancer Care - providing care for people of all ages impacted by Cancer.
A little insight on why I have made this decision:
I am doing this for my family as a few of my family members have had to face the ruthless battles against cancer, with it claiming the life of my beautiful Nanna, and thousands of people over the world everyday. 14,247 per day to be exact.
Foundations like Bloomhill Cancer Care make it possible for victims of this insidious disease to survive, or make their last few moments on this Earth with us as comfortable as possible. It is so important that we support our local health care providers, to lend a hand to the people who need it most. Bloomhill is a community based organisation who receive zero government funding, so every cent counts and helps them support those who have been touched by Cancer.
While one of my aunties was bravely battling the fight with Breast Cancer, she had to go through Chemotherapy. Which meant losing her hair. As a female, losing your hair can turn into a major insecurity that can shake up your whole life. In a few days I have CHOSEN to shave my hair, in support of those that never had the choice, to help show that you should not be insecure about having no hair, as everyone is beautiful inside and out.
Again every cent matters and helps support those of all ages who are faced with the brave battle against cancer, so please show your support.
