We are writing today to ask all Crown personnel to consider contributing to a GoFundMe page so that we, the Crown family, can support our colleagues in the Southern part of the United States that have been devastated by unprecedented cold weather. All of us have seen the heart-breaking images from this part of the country in the last few days. People are going days without heat, electricity and drinking water and they have also suffered damage to their homes and property. Recovery for many will take weeks if not months.
We have seven plants and approximately 700 employees that live in this part of the U.S. It is too early to know which of them has been affected by the devastation and how deeply, but it is safe to say that many will feel the sting. Hopefully, all of our Crown colleagues and their families will be physically safe, but we have to worry that their homes and personal property may be affected.
That is why we decided to act. We are taking up a collection from the Crown family for the Crown family. Whatever we collect, we will make available to our colleagues that have been affected. Maybe it will be enough for a family dinner. Maybe it will be enough to repair a damaged roof or the plumbing in their home. The point is, our colleagues are suffering, and we want to do something for them.
We also want to act fast. People need money now. We have decided to collect funds and distribute them quickly to help in the emergency phase of this disaster.
All contributions are totally voluntary and can be made anonymously if you choose. For every dollar contributed by employees, the Company will match with four dollars. The GoFundMe page will be open until midnight on Friday, March 12. We plan to make the money available within a week after we close the funding page. We know there are lots of ways to contribute to alleviate the suffering, but we urge you to remember our Crown families as you decide how you can help.
Prior to making distributions, funds will be withdrawn from the GoFundMe page on behalf of Crown by Kevin Clothier, the Company's Vice President and Treasurer.
