Corey's Medical Fund

Donation protected
I have set this account up on behalf of Corey Spain's parents to help in covering the costs of Corey's medical needs.
Corey has been in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for the past 9 days with a full Sepsis infection that started in his wisdom tooth and has aggressively spread to his lungs.

Corey has been living a normal 24 year old life working as an exotic animal specialist and in overall great healty.  Recently he had picked up some hours at a warehouse to make some extra Christmas money and was looking forward to spending the holidays with his family.

On December 17th Corey called his mom in agonizing pain from his wisdom tooth. His mother, Viki, called around and found an oral surgeon to see him at 7am Dec. 18, which happened to be his 24th Birthday. (what a birthday present!).

Friday December 18th Corey had the wisdom tooth removed and the oral surgeon, confident they had removed the infected area, sent Corey home.

Saturday December 19th, the day after his surgery,  Corey reported a significant amount of pain and a late text to his mom said he'd be going to urgent care.

5am Sunday, Dec. 20, Corey went to the ER and  had surgery in the tissue under his jaw to drain the infected material.  After 48 hours on the surgical floor Corey's condition was getting worse, and they moved him to the cardiac intensive care unit, where he's been ever since.

Corey has had to have several procedures since being put in ICU including  a thoracentesis, with needles going into chest pockets of fluid to drain them where they drained 750 ccs from his lungs. They Then had a cardiologist do a trans-esophageal echo cardiogram to look closely at his heart murmur, specifically looking to see if there is any bacterial growth on his heart valves. Her report was negative, which was a good sign. But the doctors and surgeons would like to do a Decortication of the lungs to get a good look and clean and set up big drains. However,  Corey's body is not strong enough to handle that surgery right now.

Corey is now fully intubated and sedated as they try to keep him comfortable, but still has shown no signs of Improvement. He still has his original double-sided under-jaw drains from the infected wisdom tooth, and he still has his mediastinum drain after that surgery pulled 1.5 liters of infected fluid out.

Currently the concern is that even with all of those procedures and drains he still has a fever, and though his body is working very hard to fight this, he still has not shown any signs of Improvement.

The hope now is that Corey's body will continue to fight and help him turn the corner on this vicious infection.
As you can imagine, this has been a very difficult time for his family, especially during this time of year.  With Corey's condition showing very little signs of improvement, and him still in need of several surgery's the medical bills are already starting to add up and his family is in great need of you help.  No amount is too small and anything you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your love, support,  and prayers.
