Fighting Leukemia, One Smile at a Time

Donation protected
Hello, everybody!

My name is Connor and I love to play peek-a-boo. My dream is to one day win the Peek-A-Boo National Championships (Yeah, I'm that good). I train every day with my Mommy, Daddy, and even my big brother, Nathaniel. Training can sometimes be intense and usually I muscle through, but lately I haven't been feeling very well. Not too long ago I started feeling weak and really tired, I didn't want to eat and could barely stay awake during the day. My Mommy and Daddy took me to the Children's Emergency Department at Johns Hopkins Hospital where I was immediately admitted into Pediatric Oncology. After many tests and procedures, we learned that I have Acute Megakaryocyte Leukemia (AMKL), a rare type of cancer that attacks my blood cells and weakens my bones so that I cannot walk, crawl, or even stand.
But my Daddy always makes me laugh, Mommy always gives me cuddles, and all my family and friends come to visit so that I don't ever have a chance to be sad.
(See?)
Nobody wants to spend New Years or their birthday in a hospital, but the Hopkins doctors, nurses, and staff are very nice and even helped my family and me celebrate my first birthday with style. I thank God to be in one of the greatest cancer research facilities in the country and am optimistic about receiving the best care and treatment for my illness.I am told that it will be a long road to recovery, so I could use your prayers to help get me through it and to comfort my parents and big brother while I am fighting this battle. I have only just started treatment and will continue to undergo rigorous cycles of Chemotherapy over the next 6 months to a year.
I'm happy to have my big brother around, he spends most of his time playing Cars and Trucks with Grandma. I'd much rather practice my Hide and Seek skills with the many nurses and doctors who visit me so that I can keep beating him at Peek-A-Boo. I think it would be a great burden off of Grandma if Nathaniel were in day care. My mommy and daddy are hoping to get him accepted into a childcare center so that he can have a chance to interact with other kids his age and be well taken care of while they aren't around.
For the last few months, my parents have had to invent creative ways to travel to and from work because our car stopped working properly. That has made it very hard to see them as often as I'd like, so my Mom has limited her work schedule to stay with me as much as she can. Between these new medical bills, household expenses, and other bills that are piling high we've had to hold off on getting a better car or fixing the one we have. It would help my family a lot to have reliable transportation.
With your donations, my family can afford the extensive testing, chemo treatments, and physical therapy that I need to get me back on top of the Peek-A-Boo game and on my way back to a normal life. Your donations will also help in repairing our vehicle to make travelling between work, home, and hospital less strenuous and aid in getting my big brother into a childcare program during the day. No donation is too small and every little bit helps. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. God Bless.
