On April 19th 2016 our lives changed forever. Connie was sent for a routine procedure called an ERCP to look at the pancreas. Within a few hours of completing the test Connie developed severe pancreatitis which led to necrosis (tissue death) and development of fluid filled cysts. The fluid filled cysts were eventually drained but left damaging scar tissue and necrosis to the pancreas which has been debilitating for her.  We utilized all the healthcare options we had available in Tupelo,MS and also Memphis, TN for a little over two years now. There have been countless hospital admissions with multiple procedures, diagnostic studies, ICU stays, and medications to help manage the complications and heal the pancreas.  Multiple specialists from general surgeons, gastroenterologists, internal medicine physicians to pain management specialists to try to help her manage the symptoms to allow the pancreas to rest. Now the only available option is to go to MUSC in Charleston, SC to one of the top pancreas specialists in the country. The only option at this time is to completely remove her pancreas while harvesting her Islet cells into the liver to help her maintain proper blood sugar and hormone levels. All that being said, we will have to stay there through the surgery and possibly several months after. We are exploring the option of getting a rental property for follow up infusions and checkups considering she lives 9 hours away.  These overwhelming circumstances of dealing with a sudden and catastrophic illness could use all the support and prayer we can get.  We are very thankful for insurance, but it will not cover everything needed or the multitude of other expenses incurred while traveling so far away.  This page was designed to help lighten the financial burden of being so critically ill and give Connie and Dave a breath of relief during this difficult time. A private account has been set up just for medical expenses and travel to Charleston. If God compels you to donate, we would appreciate it so much. If you are unable to donate, your prayers are coveted so much.  Connie is a woman of faith and one of the greatest people I know.  She always has a smile on her face, and to this day still hasn't given up no matter how sick she is. We all thank God for her and love her very much.
