Collecting for Colin

Please join me in supporting Colin Boyd and his family. With your support, we can send The Boyd’s on a family vacation to Disney Land for Colin’s 5th birthday. Together, we can send this incredibly kind, generous and loving family a week filled with joy and laughter, and a little something for them to look forward to amidst their difficult and daily battle against Colin’s stage four pediatric cancer.

 

 

 

In case you do not know The Boyd Family personally, here is a bit of background: I met Caitlin Boyd about a year ago through Colin, her four year old son who is on the spectrum. Caitlin is an incredibly generous and giving human, and our initial introduction was a result of her incredible fundraising efforts towards Autism Speaks. It didn’t take long for us to become good friends! Shortly after, in March, Colin was diagnosed with a rare form of stage four cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma. Thus far, Colin’s cancer has been unresponsive to any treatment.

 

The Boyd family is understandably devastated, including Caitlin as well as her amazing husband, Garret, and their three children - Colin (4 years), Emmett (2 years) and Abby (4 months). Their collective love, courage, and strength through this incomprehensibly difficult and painful time has been truly inspiring.

 

I hope that you will join me in helping Caitlin, Colin and their family by sending a little ray of light in their direction, something that I know each of them could use during this dark and scary time. I have a personal goal of raising $10k to help fund specific hopes and wishes of the family, including a trip to Disney Land for the five of them this February to celebrate Colin’s 5th birthday! All funds that are raised beyond $10,000 will be donated directly towards “Friends of Yuba Cory Parks and Rec” in Colin Boyd’s name. We will be working with this incredible nonprofit to renovate Maple Park, located across the street from where the Boyd’s live, into an inclusive and accessible playground for ALL children. All proceeds donated in Colin’s name will go directly towards the Maple Park Project.

In Caitlin’s own words, she is passionate about this project “so that even if just for 10 minutes any kid can have a chance to just be a kid. So their parents can smile knowing their child can have a sense of “normalcy” even just for a moment. Through this whole cancer journey that’s all I have craved for all of my children.“
