Hey Friends,
My name is the UTK Elf, or Colin the Elf. My story is a fun one, especially if this is your first time tuning in, it is filled with laughs, joy, and a mission to create love at the University of Tennessee through a piece of candy. The concept of The UTK Elf has its roots in random acts of kindness on a massive scale using a piece of candy and hugs. During finals week during Christmas, I dress like Buddy the Elf and give away candy canes, during Valentine's Day I do heart lollipops as a Care Bear, and for easter, I do the easter bunny with easter eggs. This gave me the title UTK Elf for the flagship outfit during Christmas.
The accomplishments of The Elf have been:
- Given away 26000 candy canes over 2 overs. (8000 2023, 18000 2024)
- Been to 12 after-school programs with a Shades of Development Partnership
- Been to the Children's Hospital and been to every floor to give staff candy canes
- Been to MUSE Knoxville, a children's museum in Knoxville
The accomplishments of The Care Bear:
- Gave away 6000 lollipops (3000 each year) with (attempted) hand-stapling affirmations on them (I.e you are beautiful, you are not alone, etc)
- Hugs were always popular during this time
- Went to every single sorority and fraternity house (29) with my friend Erin (who bought and donated a lot of it) and gave them a flower bouquet, a vase, and a handwritten note at midnight the day of valentines day
The Easter Bunny:
- Gave away approximately 4500 easter eggs with candy in them (Really tedious task to close them all. 3000 2023, 1500 2024)
- Hosted a easter egg hunt in 2023 with partnership with Max (Shamelesscloutchaser) which had 100 participants, around 400-500 dollars worth of prizes)
Overall through these 2 years so far, I have spent near if not more than $5000 dollars, which probably near 3000 being from item donations (Shout of North Atlanta Alumni and Chattanooga alumni and my friend Erin) and money donations through GoFundMe (Shout out Max for starting one in 2023, and everyone who has donated)
The only way it is possible is through donations and the kindness people have shown me. So once again, I am reaching out for support. This time, for the entire year to help me do the Elf but also the other two and to give me wiggle room when it comes to prices and my passions. the more I can raise, the more I can do and more comfortably I can do it. Unfortunately, I don't have any form of sponsorship or angel donor for the Elf and this is when you come into play to support this initiative.
