Some of you know that one of my best friends, Michelle Sousa, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer this past September.
For those you who do not know Michelle, let me tell you about her. Her family moved to Amherst about 10 years ago. She also has a 13 year old son. From the moment Michelle moved to Amherst she found ways she could become a part of the community.
Michelle has coached tee ball and was a team mom for the Amherst Patriots Mighty Mites. During the spring she runs a softball clinic for Parks and Recreation. This past summer Michelle and myself held a camp for girls interested in softball. Currently she is the Amherst Middle School head coach. I’ve watched and assisted her with the creating agendas for the clinic, camp and AMS softball. Michelle does all of this on her own time.
Now Michelle and her family need some assistance. Michelle’s medical bills are piling up as are household expenses such as utilities and mortgage. The financial burden is really taking a toll on Michelle. Right now she needs to focus on herself so she can beat the cancer.
I am creating this go fund me account to help the family with their expenses. From past experience I know that the Amherst community is a strong one and will help those in need.
