Support Aussie School Strikers 4 Climate Action

On March 15,  150,000 of us, in 64 locations across Australia, joined 1.6 million strikers students in 120 countries to walk out of school and send a clear message to our leaders: young people demand climate action and we demand it now.[1]

But the climate crisis is continuing to intensify and our politicians still are not doing nearly enough to tackle it.  Which is why we're now gearing up to hold our biggest #ClimateStrike ever on September 20. Everyone is invited. Everyone is needed.

Three days before world leaders meet in New York for the UN Emergency Climate Summit, we are calling on everyone to take time off school and work together to show our politicians that all of us want climate justice, because the alternative is unthinkable. .

We’ll strike in solidarity for everyone who’s already being hurt by the climate crisis and everyone who will be impacted if we don’t act now:
first nations people, young people, workers, communities on the frontline of climate change and fossil fuel extraction  and more.

The world won’t wait, so neither will we. Let’s strike for climate justice together!

The School Strike 4 Climate Action  is 100%  student-led and growing by the day. We are a decentralised grassroots network so we rely on contributions from the community to super-size our actions and impact.

We are partnering with the AYCC to fundraise for our work[2] - when you donate to us, your contribution will go to:

• Promoting our strikes: Printing posters and flyers, paying for online ads and bulk text messages to spread the word about our events
Strike logistics: Gear (e.g. stage hire, sound etc) for strikes in the major cities.
• Materials: Buying paints and banners for us to decorate and show proudly at the strike
Post-strike momentum: Logistics and promotion for post-strike Town Hall events and actions which will channel the momentum generated by our strikes into sustained local action that builds momentum for climate solutions.

All money raised through our crowdfunder will go directly to our work and be split as follows:[3]

• 50%: will be evenly split between local strike group activities (of which there are 60 across Australia) for their local organising and/or national actions
• 50%: will go towards larger nationally coordinated activities.

[1] Our specific demands of politicians — treat climate change for what it is - a crisis and:

1. No new coal, oil and gas projects, including the Adani mine.
2. 100% renewable energy generation & exports by 2030
3. Fund a just transition & job creation for all fossil-fuel workers & communities.

These goals are 100% achievable. All that is lacking in the political will to get the job done. We are going to go all out to change that, because all of our futures are on the line and inaction is not an option.

[2] All donations made to us are tax-deductible thanks to our mates at the Australian Youth Climate Coalition, Australia’s largest youth-led organisation.

[3] Please note: 3% of the funds raised from this crowdfunder will need to be deducted by AYCC to cover the administration costs of managing the funds.

Disclaimer: No foreign donations will be accepted.
