CLEAN HANDS FOR HAITI & A&M SPORTS ACADEMY
Please support my bike ride on May 20, 2017 -- 150 miles from Manhattan to Montauk – to raise funds for A&M SPORTS ACADEMY and its 4th annual CLEAN HANDS FOR HAITI project.
Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the Americas and the extreme poverty affects every aspect of life, from children through adulthood, with few opportunities and little hope for the future. Before Haiti could recover from a catastrophic earthquake in 2010, it was devastated six months ago by Hurricane Matthew.
From May 21-28, the founders of A&M (Ray Abellard & Andre Murray) will be in Haiti to “give back” to the Haitian community in Port-au-Prince. This will be their fourth consecutive year in Haiti, bringing food, clothing, school supplies, education, basketball clinics and much more to this impoverished community, while focusing on a group of 18 students who are being nurtured and mentored so they have hope, laughter and an opportunity for a better life.
Once again A&M will be accompanied by CitiDental Group in New York led by CJ Loflin who will provide free dental care to these 18 students and others in the community.

Last year A&M also rebuilt the home of Fenelson Victor, the co-winner of A&M’s Student of the Year award, who lost his home during the 2010 earthquake. For the past six years, his family had to live with neighbors.
In 2015, A&M opened its Community Center in Carrefour, Bizoton, one of the poorest neighborhoods in Port Au Prince, which is where A&M founder Ray Abelard grew up. The Community Center provides these kids with a safe and nurturing environment where they can improve their academic performance. A&M supports a licensed teacher for the students at the Community Center and last year William David Tobin of Mission Capital Advisors, LLC, provided 22 Lenovo laptop computers and internet access for the Community Center.

In addition to its charitable work in Haiti, each year A&M also provides basketball scholarships to underprivileged students in New York City, who attend A&M’s basketball clinics and are also mentored by Ray and Dre so that they, hopefully, continue with their education and avoid the gangs, drugs and crime that plague their community.

So PLEASE sponsor my ride. You can donate through https://www.gofundme.com/CleanHandsforHaiti
or by check payable to “A&M Sports Academy” which you can send to me at Davidoff Hutcher & Citron LLP, 605 Third Avenue, New York, NY 10158.
Donation suggestions:
$1.00 a mile = $150
$.75 a mile = $112.50
$.50 a mile = $75
A&M Sports Academy is a 501(c)(3) organization and your support is tax deductible.
Whatever you can donate will be greatly appreciated, not just by me and A&M, but also by the kids in Haiti who are sponsored by A&M as well as the scholarship students in New York. This year 50% of the funds raised by my ride will be directly allocated to Clean Hands for Haiti and the other 50% will be allocated to A&M’s scholarship program in New York.
