MISTY COPELAND: Ballerina, Author, and Philanthropist and Open World Dance Foundation are thrilled to present Cinderella, a collaborative ballet performance that not only promises an evening of enchantment and romance, but also emphasizes the importance of children and community involvement. In a groundbreaking performance uniting world-renowned American Ballet Theatre stars and talented youth all over the country, this original production of Cinderella will give children and youth of ALL financial, educational, and racial backgrounds the chance to showcase their budding artistic prowess.

In 2016, OWDF's premiere of "Cinderella" gave 123 children--many with no previous dance experience--the chance to perform alongside American Ballet Theatre stars Misty Copeland and Calvin Royal III. Although most productions give only those with pre-professional and professional dancing experience the chance to perform, OWDF saw Cinderella as an opportunity to give children of ALL backgrounds the chance to experience the joy of dance. Not only were children given the chance to perform alongside world-renowned stars, but OWDF treated all participants to over three months' worth of ballet classes, professional rehearsals, and lectures on the history of ballet and art.

Both Open World Dance Foundation and the Misty Copeland Foundation endeavor to break down racial and financial barriers in the arts world, and this production is a living embodiment of this mission.
