Last month, one of my mountain biking friends from Medford, got a job offer to manage a local bike shop. He needed a place to stay short-term while he looked for a place to live. I let him come stay in my spare room for free.
When my ex found out, he threatened to get a restraining order to keep me from seeing Katie. I immediately went to see an attorney, who assured me that there was no legal grounds for such an action, that I had the right to allow any of my friends and/or family to stay with me, and the attorney was confident that this was nothing more than a scare tactic to control me.
Friday evening, 15 minutes before I was scheduled to have Katie for the weekend, I was served with a restraining order. The last time Katie's dad succeeded at doing this, I did not have an attorney. I was so lost and confused by the legal system that I was not able to see my daughter for 9 months, and it took another six months to establish regular, overnight visitation.
I get to present my case this Thursday, March 19th but I need $3000 to retain an attorney. I will be forever in your debt, anyone, who could help me win this battle. Katie doesn't deserve to go through this time and again. With an attorney on my side, I should be able to have the restraining order promptly removed, and hopefully, Katie's dad will stop being a bully and trying to control Katie's time with me.
Please help me fight back. I sincerely appreciate any support you can give.
