Relief Fund: Remembering Chris Lay and his Legacy

Donation protected
It is with heavy hearts that we remember and pay tribute to our beloved friend, Chris Lay.

Christopher unexpectedly fell into cardiac arrest due to an unexplained blood clot. At only 36 years old, his passing has left a void in the lives of all who knew him.

Christopher fought for his life in the ICU and peacefully went with God on May 24, 2023. He is survived by his fiancée Linda, sister Christina, and Parents Lucy and Pedro Lay.

Christopher was known to have a heart of pure gold. He was easily loved by others through his infectious, positive spirit. His kindness, patience, and understanding for others has left many friends filled with profound wisdom and valuable memories. He was referred to as “Brother Chris” for his purpose here on earth.

Christopher had a love for life, engaging in activities, mostly in nature, such as paddle boarding, backpacking, snowboarding, skating, back country skiing, swimming, camping, bicycling— the list seems almost endless.  He really lived life to the fullest.

As of this year, he went on to fulfill his sense of purpose to serve others as a Acupuncturist at the University of East-West Medicine.

Christopher and his beloved fiancée, Linda, spent 16 remarkable years together. In December 2022 , they both went on an unforgettable trip to Thailand and Vietnam. They booked a private boat tour to explore the magical islands of Ko Phi Phi where Chris went on one knee to ask for her hand in marriage. They were thrilled to start the next chapter of their lives by planning their wedding in Cancun, Mexico next May 2024 and eventually starting a family. But fate turned the direction of these plans…

Instead of eagerly anticipating their future together, Linda now faces the daunting challenge of not only grieving the loss of her fiancé but also shouldering the financial burden that accompanies this unexpected tragedy. As she navigates the depths of her grief, Linda must also find a way to resume her daily work tasks while coming to terms with the immense loss she has experienced. In this time of complex emotional and financial hardship, we stand united as a community, ready to offer our unwavering support and extend a helping hand.

Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful impact and provide comfort during this arduous journey of healing. Contributions could also be made directly via Venmo @adeptbrows.

As we honor Chris's memory, let us remember the joy he brought to our lives, the laughter shared, and the unforgettable moments he helped create. Through our collective generosity, we can ensure that Chris's legacy endures and that his loved ones are supported during this profoundly challenging time.

Chris, you will forever remain in our hearts, and your radiant spirit will continue to guide us in cherishing every precious moment. May you find eternal peace, and may your memory inspire us to embrace life with the same passion and enthusiasm that defined you.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Christina Rizo
