Help Pay For Chris Kersh's Funeral

Christopher Kersh was born in1960 in Jackson, Mississippi to Rufus and Corine Kersh.  After a long battle with illness, Chris passed away at 12:05 am, Friday, May 27th in Urbana, Illinois.  Chris was 56 years old.  

Chris was one of those rare souls who people liked almost the instant they met him.  He was quick with a smile and had an infectious laughter and, once you heard it, you never forgot it.  He loved people, but most especially loved being with his family.  His brothers, sister, mother, nieces and nephews loved being around him as did his father who passed away several years ago. Chris made you feel good just by being around him.  

Chris loved basketball. After moving to Urbana a much younger Chris was given the nickname "Fly Nitty" because when he drove to the basket he looked like a fly floating through the air.  It was a name that would stick with thim the rest of his life and many of his friends and family affectionately called him "Fly".  

Chris was a gifted landscaper.  He loved to plant trees, flowers, bushes and generally help transform the ordinary into something beautiful.  That was Chris.  

Chris battled with illness nearly all of his life.  Near the end he was disabled and had a difficult time getting around. But he still had his wonderful smile and he still tried to make you laugh.  But after a long and painful struggle, Chris's body finally gave out.  

Because of Chris's illness he wasn't able to leave sufficient funds to aid in his burial.  His loving family is doing the best they can but have not been able to put together all the money that is required.  Several friends of the family have already given donations out of their love for the Kersh family.  But more is needed.  Please consider helping them put one of their favorite sons to rest.  Any donation you make will be deeply appreciated. 

In the event more funds are raised than is needed, any extra will go to help the Kersh family with travel expenses or will be donated to the needy in the Urbana, Illinois area.
