Help Our Loved One Recoup from Deadly Oakland Fire
Donation protected
Dear family and friends,
As you may know, our family has recently lost our beloved family home. This fire has taken all of our cherished memories, pets, and belongings with it. All of our hearts are completely broken by Saturday night’s tragedy.
The main co-owner of the property is now left without a home and his companion, Red, who did not survive the fire. He insists on living on the property in a tent, or in a car. We are establishing this GoFundMe account in hopes to raise enough money to provide him with proper shelter, clothes, and food. We are reaching out to our family, friends, and community to please help us in our time of need.
We are setting a goal of $10,000 to buy a mobile home or used RV and new clothes. Any amount you can donate to our family would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your thoughts and support through this very difficult time.
Family of 327 Chester Street, Oakland.
Additional information about our family home from Jessica Perez:
My Grandpa Martin and Grandma Fili Topete’s home was built in 1890. They purchased their home in the 1960’s to raise their family. My Topete family has deep roots in West Oakland/lower bottoms dating back to when my grandfather Martin Topete came from Mexico to visit his Tia’s who also lived in Oakland in the 1920’s.
Unfortunately my Tio Fernando, my family and I have seen so many changes in our community. many family and friends lost their homes due to the economy, and gentrification. With everything going on in the world we would like to stay and rebuild. Rebuild better, and stronger!
If you know of any organizations that could help in this time of need please let us know. We appreciate the help of our community, and all the love from our neighborhood. We thank you family and friends for your kind words, emotional support. We know it's especially hard with COVID and the economy so what ever you can help with would be greatly appreciated. Thank you family and friends. Hopefully one day when This pandemic is under control we can have a big bbq (carne asada) with you all. If you’re able to donate here is the link to my family’s gofundme.
Additional note from Fernando (Our Tio Nani):
My personal goal was $360, anything more than this is a blessing. Thank you all for your continued support. You all are giving me the strength to keep going.
Love to all,
Tio Nani
