Chelle for Miss Nigeria In America

My name is Michelle Chioma Nwosu and I am honored to announce that I have been chosen as a delegate in the 2015 Miss Nigeria In America Pageant as MISS LAGOS. The Miss Nigeria in America Pageant identifies Nigerian women in the US who exemplify beauty, talent, supremacy and intelligence. It aims to create new role models who through the organization will serve as ambassadors that will define a new Nigeria, enrich the beauty of the Nigerian Woman and enhance a new strength, energy and spirit for the advancement of women.


What Is My Platform?
My platform consists of a heightened awareness of auto immune diseases more specifically Lupus within the African community. There are high numbers of those suffering from this illness within our community yet, we see a lack of education on this disease. From knowing what the early signs and symptoms are, to knowing how to manage living with them, I hope to be placed within a position that allows me to share this information so that we are all informed to assist one another. My brother was diagnosed with Lupus in 2008 and prior to that my family and I were clueless as to what the illness was all about. Unfortunately, he passed away from Lupus in 2011 and since then I have made it my mission to be actively involved in the research being conducted to find a cure. I would like to support research and conduct education based programs so that everyone affected by this illness can have an improved quality of life. Being a healthcare professional, I see firsthand the struggles that these individuals face. As your next Miss Nigeria in America, I hope to utilize that platform in making my dreams of widespread information, a reality.
