Chase's Medical Care

Donation protected
Chase was rescued from a backyard breeder. First day he came, he was very lethargic and all he wants to do is sleep. He also has big belly so I was worried he may have worms. Took him to the vet to get checked up and was given his first vaccines that day. Since he is so young, I assumed that it is normal that all he wanted to do was sleep. He didn't eat at all and still was so lethargic so took him back to the vet and tested him for parvo and giardia. Both came back negative. He was given wet food and he really likes that. For about a week he is still lethargic and would not play like a normal puppy. He is constantly barking and howling as if he is crying in something or he is scared. Took him back to the vet to get a blood test. He is a little bit anemic but nothing much to worry about. His Glucose is also a little higher than normal. The vet watched him walks around since he walks as if he is drunk, he would fall sometimes and would go in circles all the time. This is when she recommends for him to see a neurology because she thinks he has an infection in his brain and get a csf tap. I've watched Chase walks around inside my house and he seems to keep bumping on things, he is also not responding to any sound so my guess is that he might be blind and deaf. We took him to a Neurology on Wednesday, March 23 and his Neurologist thinks he may have water in his brain. He was given Clindamycin and Doxycycline just to make sure he has no infection or meningitis until we can take him to get his MRI. We were able to raise the $1700 for his MRI so we took him to get it done on Wednesday, May 4th. His MRI result came out that he has Hydrocephalus, water in the brain.  He also doesn't have much brain tissue so he will never be a normal puppy. We went back and seen his Neurologist the next day so he can let us know what we can do. Chase was taken off the meds he was taking and was given Prednisone and Omezaprole to take to see if there will be any improvement. After being on the medication for four days, Chase was able to walk again and he was also more alert than he was 3 weeks before the MRI. Since now there's an improvement, he can now get the Shant surgery that can help drain the fluid in his brain. This is where we will need the village's help. Chase will need between $2500 to $5000 to have the surgery done. This little guy is only 4 months old and has a long road ahead of him. He will definitely need ongoing medical care. He is not suffering instead he is fighting, because of it, we will fight for him! Please donate if you can! Any help is appreciated! No amount is too small.

Please no negative comments! Every fur babies all deserves a chance, most especially Chase since he is still so young. I am willing to do whatever I can to help him and with your help, I know that will be possible. Thank you and God Bless!
