For us this journey began as just a
strained groin injury. At least that is what
we were told to explain her leg pain. Her
pain was so great that after going to
urgent care twice, her primary doctor and a sports doctor, they decided to get a MRI of her thigh. The MRI was scheduled on Friday and I (mom) was scheduled for
surgery the following Monday. The MRI
results came in on Tuesday while I was
still in the hospital recovering from a
hysterectomy. The call I got was
devastating. The doctor bluntly said that
"they think it's cancer." My heart dropped.
I said "but it could be something else and
she said no, they really think that it's
cancer." She referred me to a cancer
specialist.... Through tons of testing it was discovered that she does have a rare
form of Sarcoma (osteosarcoma) and the
cancer is widespread. This is beyond
heartbreaking. It's unimaginable but it's
our new reality. Everything has been
especially tough. I'm still recovering from
surgery and can’t work for another 4 to 6
weeks. WE NEED HELP in battling this
disease through prayer and whatever
contributions you might be able make to
help us during this difficult time. Charnice will need tons of love and encouragement to help her get through this battle she is facing. This page is to raise funds for expenses and the needs of the family. We thank you in advance for any support you can provide that might be able to help us even if it’s just a simple prayer. Welcome to our Charnice's Journey. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

She is 16 years old and attends Stevenson high School
Charnice is a sophomore in high school. She loves school but recently had to temporarily stop attending because of her illness. Before this happened to her she was an A student with hopes of becoming a pediatrician.
Charnice is a Jazz / ballet dancer at her school. She takes great pride in being a dancer.
She loves to read and when she was a very little girl, she carried a mini bible around with her where she went and called it her “special book”. At the time she didn’t even know how to read, yet she wouldn’t leave home without it.
She also is an artist. She loves to create, draw and paint. One of her favorite things to do is to take pictures of beautiful of sunsets, rainbows, lakes and the ocean.
Charnice’s cancer is now widespread throughout many parts of her body and is currently awaiting her first round of chemotherapy which will occur on Valentine’s day. Please pray for her and our family. This is the hardest thing to ever happen to Charnice or any of us. Charnice has two older sisters, both who currently attend college. We are a very close family.
