Charlie -
His name, although very simple is more than enough for you to know exactly who I'm talking about. The adventurous, carefree guy who you probably shared one too many drinks with at 5am and/or made a long term friendship within hours of meeting him. The cheeky English chappy with a heart of gold who would help someone from the other side of the world and quite literally so is now in need of our help.
As most of his friends and family are aware Charlie decided to finish up his travels in Bangkok. However being the party animal that we all know and love him for he decided to take a boat to a small rural island called Koh Phangan. Unfortunately sometime between the 7th and the 9th of November Charlie was involved in a very serious motorbike accident which at the time, landed him in the ICU of a very rural hospital.
Since the accident the rural hospital has only prescribed the equivalent of Colpol to "help" with the agonising pain of a broken collarbone and a shattered jaw. His face so badly swollen that you can barely see his eyes.
Because of the lack of care that Charlie has received in the hospital that he was first admitted to his health is now deteriorating and is at risk of losing his eyesight due to an infection. On top of that Charlie is at risk of septicaemia (poisoning of the blood) which is an even greater complication and could potentially cause us to lose him altogether.
His family have organised his transfer to a major hospital in Bangkok, however the hospital will not perform the surgery he so desperately needs without an upfront payment of $230,000 (Aud).
Myself and his family are asking everyone who knows and loves Charlie just as much as we do to donate whatever they can afford to try and help us to raise these funds as soon as possible so we can save his eyesight and quite possibly his life.
No words could ever express how grateful we are for any help, no matter how big or small.
Something that is as equally as important as donating that we are asking everyone who sees this post and/or page is to share it. Share it with the people Charlie know, share it with your friends and family too. We all know how great Charlie is and he quite literally has friends all over the globe. Lets reach out to everyone from the UK-Australia, from Spain-Poland, wherever his strawberry blonde locks may have reached, lets get it there.
In the Australian words of Charlie "oooh yeah" - We can do this!! X
