For more than twenty years, our annual Chanukah mission has been one of the most meaningful parts of our year. We have had the privilege of walking into hospital rooms, homes, orphanages, and other places where children and families are facing illness, loss, and circumstances no family ever expects to face.

We come with toys and gifts, music and celebration, but over the years we have learned that what happens in those visits is about so much more than what we bring with us. Sometimes it is watching a child who has been sick for months light up over a gift. Sometimes it is hearing laughter in a hospital room. And sometimes it is seeing the face of a parent who realizes that people they have never met are thinking about their child and want them to know that they are not alone.

This Chanukah, the Schonfeld Toy Fund and Lev Leytzan will once again reach more than 500 children and their families. We will continue our long-standing visits to children who are ill and struggling, while also expanding our reach to families in Israel whose lives have been profoundly changed by October 7 and the war that followed.

After all these years, we still believe deeply in the power of simply showing up for someone. A toy cannot take away an illness, and a Chanukah celebration cannot undo what a family has endured. But for a little while, it can give a child the chance to just be a child again. It can bring laughter back into a room. And it can remind a family going through an incredibly difficult time that they have not been forgotten.
