Help Cayda Get Life-Changing Surgery She Desperately Needs

Hi everyone, my name is Sara, and I’m a foster and staff member at Cincinnati Animal CARE. I’d love to introduce you to a special pup that I've been so lucky to cross paths with. Meet Cayda Bug!

Cayda is the sweetest girl with the goofiest charm. She's actually a certified weighted blanket full of grunts (her nickname's Gruntilda), kisses, and zoomies. This beautiful girl came into the shelter May 28, 2025 in rough shape - thinning patches of fur, malnourished, and with painful cherry eyes. The moment I met her, I could see she was broken hearted. After bringing her home, giving her a warm bath, and holding her close, she leaned in, relaxed, and started to trust. It’s likely that Cayda has never known what it’s like to be loved or truly cared for, but despite it all, she still lights up and chooses to love.

Cayda needs our help right now. She has cherry eyes, a condition where the gland in a dog's third eyelid moves out of place. While not life threatening, it’s uncomfortable for her and can cause more serious problems down the road if not treated. Medicated eye drops and cleaning her eyes are not sustainable long-term, and do so little, as I've learned while fostering her. I want to advocate for Cayda and help others see what I see in her, because the truth is, people walk past her. They see her eyes before they see her.

The good news? There is a surgery that can correct this, and I, along with so many others, are eager to get her the care she needs. There is one important condition... Cayda must be adopted in order to move forward with the surgery, due to Cincinnati Animal CARE's policy. I am crossing my fingers so, so hard that the stars will align, and that this fundraiser will grab the attention of her potential adopter!

Cayda has already been seen by Rising Sun Veterinary Clinic, and they’ve created a care plan for surgery. This will relieve the discomfort and allow her to fully thrive.

I'm raising $1,000 to cover the cost of Cayda's surgery, including a little extra wiggle room in case of any complications, so that when her forever family finds her, the financial barrier is removed, and she’ll be one step closer to a pain-free, happy life. Once she is adopted, I will release funds to Rising Sun Veterinary Clinic. Every dollar helps, and 100% of donations will go directly towards her veterinary care. Whatever funds that might be left over, will be donated to Cincinnati Animal CARE to continue their mission and save lives.
