This August I'm traveling to Malawi to participate in an Ambassador Trek to help with the construction of a school through an organization called buildOn. The Trek is a cultural immersion project, with a direct and lasting impact on the education of the community: bringing literacy and hope to hundreds of children and adults. There are 10 of us working with a buildOn partner village about an hour outside of Kasungu, Malawi.
buildOn's mission is to "break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy
and low expectations through service and education." buildOn initiatives have built over 585 schools around the world, serving more than 84,000 children, parents and grandparents everyday. Since 1993 when buildOn was founded - more than 3,000 participants have been building houses and working within the communities in over 200 Treks.
