DR. ROB's TRAUMA/INJURIElS/EVICTION
Hi all,
My name is Gerry Cassista and I am writing this for a good friend and colleague named Dr. Rob Laperchia. Rob and I are both chiropractors. Rob worked at my office as a chiropractor and gave until he could no longer work. He suffered from an old back injury which required surgery.
After recovering, he started his own full time chiropractic office coverage business
serving the chiropractic community throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at many different offices including Cape Codand Nantucket Island.
He is a warm, loving person who was wonderful with the staff, patients, and other colleagues he interacted with. He is very caring and would go to great lengths to assist anyone who needed his help. Because of a very unfortunate turn of events,
Rob now needs our help.
Rob Laperchia was a practicing chiropractor since 2001. He was attempting to cross the street in front of his apartment on Jan 14, 2014 to make a dental appointment. He was on the sidewalk where there is a cross walk but no lights to stop traffic. He waited for someone in the south bound lane to stop and let him cross and continued to wait till someone in the north bound lane did the same. He then proceeded to cross
the street and just as he stepped in front of the north bound SUV, that vehicle was rear ended by another SUV travelling about 30-35mph. The stopped SUV was
pushed forward striking Rob with such force that his body was lifted up onto the hood, where his spine was struck by the hood and windshield with his entire body and head.
Ultimately, he was thrown so hard that he found himself
laying on his stomach in the street across the double
yellow lines. Slighty more than 2 car lengths up the road. He was eventually tended to by EMS where he was put in a neck brace, boarded and taken to the hospital where he was examined, had CT scan and x-rays.He was fortunate to not have broken any bones, but instead suffered multiple, severe soft tissue injuries
including a concussion, abdominal and chest damage and severe constant pain in his face, trunk and low back. He cannot stand without his legs shaking violently and cannot work at any type of job including as a
chiropractor because he is in so much pain from nerve
damage. He has developed abdominal hernias which are painful as well causing him to be on a liquid diet.
Because Rob tried to advocate for himself, the
attorney's did not give his case the attention it needed and at this point, there has not been a settlement. Rob has had to live since that time unable to work with no income. His landlord was kind enough to take a lean on any settlement Rob might get, but now after all this time, he either wants his money or Rob out. EVICTION PROCEEDINGS HAVE BEGUN. He just needs some help now till a settlement comes through. Rob can use any support you can send. His situation has become dire and time is running out for him. This is someone who DEDICATED his life to helping others. He has a massive heart and it is ironic for him to be in a situation where he now needs help from others and knows not how to ask.
