With deep sorrow, we share that our beloved Cassandra passed away on the night of Sunday, July 20th, surrounded by family and loved ones. After a courageous battle with breast cancer, her body could no longer withstand the complications of metastatic disease that had spread to her liver. In her final hours, Cassandra experienced internal bleeding that ultimately caused her heart and lungs to fail. Though her fight is over, her light, her faith, and her love live on through her 1-year-old son, Liams, and her devoted husband, Josue.

Cassandra was only 30 years old. She was a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, and a woman of unwavering faith who inspired everyone around her with her strength and grace. Her passing has left a hole in our hearts that words cannot fill.

We are now faced with the difficult task of laying her to rest. Due to the instability and violence in Haiti, we are heartbroken that we cannot safely bring her home for her final goodbye. Her husband, parents, and siblings—who remain in Haiti—will be unable to attend. We will honor her with a funeral here in the U.S., and we hope to livestream the service so her family in Haiti can join us in spirit. Details will be shared soon.

Hi, my name is Megan, and I’m raising funds for my beloved cousin, Cassandra, a devoted Christian, loving wife, and new mother to a beautiful baby boy.

Cassandra’s journey should have been filled with the joys of new motherhood, but instead, she has been confronted with one of the greatest challenges of her life. After giving birth to her first child in September 2023, she began experiencing pain and discovered a lump in her left breast. At first, doctors believed it was just a cyst, but by early 2024, Cassandra was diagnosed with an aggressive form of stage 2 breast cancer.

This diagnosis has devastated her, her husband, and our entire family. However, Cassandra’s faith in God has remained unshakable. Her deep trust in the Lord has been a beacon of hope, keeping her spirits high during this incredibly difficult time.

Cassandra lives in Haiti, a country currently grappling with gang violence and severe resource shortages. Due to the inability to access medical treatment, the doctors in Haiti have advised that she seek treatment in the United States.

Since her arrival, her health has quickly deteriorated. The cancer has upgraded to stage 4; metastasizing to several organs and bones, even causing painful fractures in her vertebral column (post kyphoplasty pictured below).

We are asking for your support to help cover the mounting medical expenses she will face as she prepares for treatment. The costs include MRIs, mammograms, ultrasounds, labs, chemotherapy, and possible surgery. As many of you know, cancer treatments are incredibly expensive, and time is of the essence when it comes to beginning her treatments. Any amount you can contribute will go directly toward ensuring Cassandra can get the lifesaving care she so desperately needs.
