WHEN THE URGENT PLEA to New Hope rescue partners about a stray #pitbull suffering excruciating pain at the NYC ACC went out yesterday, we knew CASSIUS CLAY had little chance of being pulled due to the extensive emergency medical costs associated with his case. We also knew we had to do something for him.
CASIO, as we are now calling him, suffers from more than ten bladder stones, a urethral obstruction preventing him from urinating and elevated kidney values that need to be brought down prior to emergency surgery. As you can imagine, his condition is incredibly painful.
As of 6:30pm on 10/12/20, CASIO is resting comfortably on pain meds and IV fluids while we await his kidney values to move infabor of him being able to be placed under anesthesia. This newest member of our #OneLuckyPup program has a loving, gentle demeanor, is 50 lbs., 4-5 years old and sports the most elfishly adorable ears we’ve seen all year!
Saving CASIO’s life is estimated to cost $650. We have launched his fundraiser and are grateful for any level of support. We will continue to update CASIO’s story as more is known. This evening, out hearts and minds are filled with this gentle creature and we are eagerly awaiting the moment he walks out of the hospital in a few days feeling like a top dog again!
Mr. Bones & Co. is a volunteer based animal welfare non-profit. Our main function is canine rescue via One Lucky Pup, our rescue, rehabilitation and adoption program. We accept all breeds into our program with an emphasis on pit bull rescue. OLP specializes in dogs facing extraordinary challenges. We focus on the quality of our cases, not the quantity. By keeping our program small, typically no more than fifteen dogs at a time, we put an intensive amount of attention into each dog.
