Caryn's Walk of Faith Fund

This fundraiser page is for Caryn who is a 30 year old Cystic Fibrosis patient who just underwent double lung  transplant!! Her siblings also have CF.

She is a loving mother,  daughter, sister and friend! She means the world to so many people! She has spent many years battling her health and for the first time in her life she will be able to breath without trouble!!

Cystic Fibrosis is known as an "invisible illness."  Patients are born with it genetically.  The body produces lots of sticky mucus that is hard to clear out of the body. It accumulates in many areas.  Looking at a person with CF you may not notice that they are fighting a battle every day. They fight to breathe, to have the energy to go about their day,  taking constant medications to try and stay well.  Breathing treatments, pills, and hospital stays to treat lung infections are just a few of the many things someone with CF has to do . The lung infections over time cause damage to the lungs that are irreversable. As you age, the hospital stays are only needed even more.

Eventually CF progresses in all patients, and can affect overall health. CF patients can develop diabetes, GI problems, frequent damaging lung infections, and chronic sinusitis. After years of medications the liver and kidneys may be damaged . The organs (heart, lungs, ect.) work harder to do the tasks that most people don't have an issue with.  Inevitably the body will start to show signs as the disease progresses.

In the last year Caryn's CF progressed very quickly! She had to work less and less due to her health. She was more oxygen dependant wich hinders her from doing so many things. She struggled to work and unfortunately working is something she just could not do!

Caryn was finally listed to be on the trasplant list in the beginning of November! November 12th we all were about to have an early birthday celbration. The phone rang around 6pm right before dinner! Talk about a birthday gift! We all raced to St. Louis Missouri and the very next morning she recieved her new breathers! They said she did wonderful during surgery!  She had her breathing tube removed and breathing  on her own the next morning! She was taken from ICU  24hrs to the step down unit today! She started to walk around today with some help but she was up and walking! They are calling her the "miraculous woman!" This tough lady has some more fighting to do and we sure could use the help to continue down this amazing road!

Caryn is a warrior who has fought a good fight against this unforgiving disesase. She has always walked in faith. And that faith shared with so many people with  prayers have helped us get this far!!! Our goal is to see her walking and enjoying life with her new lungs and a new lease on life!!!

Thank you to the caring person who donated their life to save Caryns!!! Our hearts go out to the family who lost their loved one, We could never thank them enough for this precious second chance!

The funds we need to raise will be for living expenses. Since Caryn had her transplant they will be living in St. Louis near Barnes Jewish Hospital for atleast 3 months. In that time Caryn will be rehabilitating! Our mother wil be unable to work and  they will need financial help for this period!

We could use any and all help as soon as possible. Know that we greatly appreciate your concern and help!! I know that Caryn is extrememly thankful and know that she is keeping faith in God in the process of all of this! It means the world to her and our family

Thank you so much again for all the thoughts, prayers, and donations!!

Much love
