Carson Smith

Around 6:30 p.m. on New Year's day, Carson was driving out to Spicewood, Texas to visit a friend when he was involved in a head on collision on Highway 71.  After being cut from his Jeep, he was taken by helicopter to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, a Level 1 trauma center.  The seat belt saved his life - but it also caused extensive internal injuries upon impact of the crash.  His small intestine was cut in half (the seat belt pushed it against his spinal cord) and he had tears in his large intestine, aorta, abdominal muscles and other organs.  Dr. Carlos Brown (who happens to know Carson since he has a son on the Westlake H.S. golf team) performed the surgery and Carson did remarkably well.  CT scans also show that Carson has a traumatic brain injury - the extent of this will not be known until Carson fully wakes up.  Other than a small fracture in his knee which will not require surgery, he has no other broken bones - and not a mark on his face. Given the impact of the crash, it's an absolute miracle he's alive.

Carson will soon be moved to Dell Children's Hospital to begin treatment for the Traumatic Brain Injury and continued Physical Therapy.

All dontations will be used to help pay for Carson's medical bills as he continues to recover from this accident.

The outpouring of support has already been very overwhelming.  The Smith Family is very grateful for your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you very much your donation and please continue to spread the word about this campaign.

Sincerely,

The LT Golf Family
