My brother Carlos, is 44 years old and was diagnosed with "Burkitt-like" Leukemia two weeks ago. A little over a month ago we were celebrating the news of his transfer from Miami to Jacksonville. He is a dentist and works for a Dental group. After 7 years, he was finally leaving the South Florida life. Unfortunately, he never got the opportunity of meeting his new staff/coworkers/offices because by March the 4th he was being transferred from Mt. Sinai (Mia) to Mayo Clinic (Jax). Even sadder is the fact that ever since he heard the diagnose he is more worried about the financial side of the situation than the disease itself. He barely sleeps because even though he was granted a 3 month leave from work, he is receiving no monetary compensation and he is responsible for paying for his health insurance. We are currently planning on building a "room" for him at our house. He no longer has a place to live back in Miami and his car was sold here in Jacksonville a week ago. Carlos, as many know, is the kindest most generous human being ever! He literally gives and gives without expecting much in return, just a "Thank You". He is also a gentleman, with the best manners a person can have even at his worst.
