Alrighty then. My story goes like this (in a nutshell):
This event took place in Baja, Mexico, almost a year ago. I drove to a gas station, and was pulled over for no reason whatsoever. The officer spoke no English, and I speak very little Spanish. However, I had a friend with me who translated. $2,000.00 was demanded (that's U.S. dollars, NOT pesos), which I didn't have (fixed income doncha know), and my car was confiscated on the spot. I found out after the fact it was an illegal action, but at the time I was intimidated, which is, of course, what he was counting on. No ticket, no receipt, no nuttin'. I later found out all I had to do was say NO and he would have been on his way. It wasn't even his jurisdiction. The officer is nowhere to be found, and I no longer have a car. This particular officer has done this kind of thing before, and a case against him with a petition is in the works (if he's ever located).
AND JUST TO BE CRYSTAL CLEAR:
These kinds of episodes occur world-wide, not just in Mexico.
Anyway, I have been without a vehicle for almost a year now, and although I am able to use a taxi and/or bus, it is always difficult because I have a fractured ankle, and the cost tends to be quite high. I want to get my online business going selling smudge sticks and feather pens, but without a car, I am unable to deliver the product in a timely and cost effective manner. In fact, without a car I am unable to do much of anything. For a year I have had to pay people to take me to run errands, and honestly, doing that costs me far more than it would if I had my own transportation. And I think I have simply become a nuisance, which does nothing for my morale.
A friend of mine told me that I needed to come to this site (she put a gun to my head) and ask for some capital funding that may end up being enough to buy a decent little car, which will allow me to move the business & my life forward. This was not easy for me to do, but I bit the bullit and here I am. Not having my car has affected me on so many levels it has made my life a chaotic catch-22. I now have a FB website and a large inventory of finished product, but I am in desperate need of a vehicle so that I am able to deliver it. We don't have mail carriers here, and the nearest postal office is 40 miles north. If I continue to pay for taxi's, I will never be able to save up to get a car.
Thank you for your support and I will keep you updated on my progress. In fact, I'll send a beautiful ostrich feather pen to anyone who donates, should anyone want one. I simply want a car that is in good running condition, and has bullit-proof windows (just kidding).
Doesn't have to be fancy.
Sincerely,
Desperate in Baja~
