Carisa Thomas or aka #CarisaStrong is a beautiful wife, mother of young 3-year old, elementary school music teacher, daughter, friend and advocate for all. If you have had the ultimate privilege to meet her, then you know her journey, her resilience, and her passion. She is approaching what she calls a 'speed bump' in her journey where your encouragement, financial support and prayers will help her continue along.
Carisa was diagnosed almost 2 years ago with Stage 4 breast cancer at 31 years old. Following almost a year of persistent self-advocacy with many doctors, it was confirmed she had metastatic breast cancer that had made its way to the brain. Even though the past two years have been packed full of constant chemotherapy and radiation, Carisa continued to teach her message of music to sweet young children in Cheyenne while loving her young family. She has impacted so many lives with her strength, courage and advocacy for cancer survivors to fight for every day. Through many days of ups, downs, successes and challenges - Carisa smiles and exemplifies #CarisaStrong.
On Monday February 12th, she will undergo a brain surgery in Denver to 'map' her brain and a treatment pathway to ultimately reduce the impact of the cancer. The risks are high with potential weeks of physical therapy. Best case she will respond well but will continue her treatments in Denver. Either way, costs add up for travel, food, health care, child care, special services for therapy, etc. This is a chance to give Carisa back a bit of encouragement she has given us all. Some are hesitant of GoFundMe but do not be, it is a great place to leave a note of encouragement, a story or prayer that she can read along her journey.
