Caring for Kayden
Donation protected
Kayden Bennett is an 11 year old outgoing, extraordinary athlete from Chaplin, CT who has unfortunately been sick since October 2015 with a very rare form of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. This desease causes Kayden to spike dangerously high fevers and lose his ability to walk at the drop of a hat. Due to this rare desease, it is also causing him to have a form of dermatitis called Koebner Phenomenon, which is an aspect of psoriasis. Because of this, Kayden will be on medication for the rest of his life. This past week, it was determined that due to the shot Kayden receives to minimize the symptoms of the arthritis, his immune system becomes weakened as a side effect of the drug. Unfortunately, this allowed for Kayden to contract MRSA, also known as a staph infection immune to multiple antibiotics.
This keeps Kayden from playing with his 2 brothers or friends and he must also stay out of the sun as it only irritates the MRSA. Most importantly, all of these things are preventing him from being the athlete he once was, living a normal life, as a normal kid, trying to have normal fun. This can be so very trying for both, a young boy yearning to just be a child who lives without pain and also the family who loves and supports him.
Kayden's Mother, Crystal, plays short stop on my women's recreational softball team. I would like to start this fund and raise as much money as possible to help Kayden's cause! The money will go towards the costs of all Kayden's medications and hospital bills, as we all know medication becomes more costly for rare deseases like the ones Kayden has. I am hopeful that some funds will be able to be given back to Kayden to help him acquire a different hobby or travel to a sports game; Something that will put a smile on Kayden's face.
Please remember, helping a person may not necessarily change the world, but it will change the world for that person <3
Prayers for Kayden & Thank you all for your support!
