Kyla is a sweet, loving 15 year old girl who has recently been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Kyla is your typical teenage girl who loves music, shopping, swimming, writing and hanging out with friends. However, the past couple of years have brought about challenges that Kyla has had to overcome. Kyla lost a close friend after a battle with cancer at the age of 11. Then the biggest loss that she has endured was the loss of her mother to cancer 7 months ago. Through the support of her loving family and trust in her Savior, she was beginning to feel like a typical teenager once again. Then she received devastating news that she has Hodgkin's lymphoma. Upon her diagnosis of Hodgkin's lymphoma, she of course was scared. Her confirmation verse continues to be a source of encouragement for her, "The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1). Kyla has the support of friends and family including her dad, step mom, three sisters and many aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. Her dad, a veteran of the war in Iraq and now a police officer, is her rock who has been by her side throughout. Her step mom works hard to keep the family life as normal as possible. Her sisters, who look to Kyla for strength in tough times, are so loving and caring but also scared for their big sister. As we all support Kyla in her battle against Hodgkin's lymphoma, please help relieve some of the financial burden that goes along with the fight against cancer. Kyla, has led the charge in generosity and kindness by recently donating her hair to Wigs for Kids, for pediatric cancer patients, in honor of her late mother. Please keep Kyla and her family in your thoughts and prayers as she battles Hodgkin's lymphoma knowing that she has peace, forgiveness and everlasting life through her Savior, Jesus Christ.
