Medical Service Trip to Guatemala
Donation protected
Hello!
I love my career as a Physical Therapist and I also love having the opportunity to assist underserved populations. Many of you supported me on my previous medical missions trip to Nigeria and I'm excited to be able to again combine those two passions by joining the non-profit Move Together for 10 days in May on a service trip to Villa Nueva, Guatemala.
Move Together is a non-profit organization whose mission is to increase access to quality rehabilitation medicine around the world. The purpose of this medical mission trip is to build a clinic from the ground up and work towards sustainability right away so that patients can be treated effectively even after we leave. The clinic will be sustainable because Move Together has partnered with the city of Villa Nueva's Mayor and community leaders. Funding has already been set aside from the municipality and physical therapists and student interns are in place to provide treatments through the year and years to come.
Did you know that over half of Guatemala’s population lives in poverty? Due to this extreme poverty, access to basic healthcare is nearly impossible. In the United States, the medical budget per person is around $3,500; in Guatemala it is only $55. Access to rehabilitation services is scarce.
Please consider donating to help me get to Guatemala! I am asking for your support to help defray the costs needed to participate in this trip: airfare, lodging, meals and program costs. Any level of support is greatly appreciated. I hope to continue my passion of improving global health through service. Please share, support, and spread awareness!
Love and thanks,
Cari
