Care For Lynn
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Fran Gallagher. I am raising money for my sister Lynn, who has lived with Multiple Sclerosis for over 40 years. Even though this relentless disease has taken away her fine motor abilities, her mobility and taxed her dignity, her loving spirit shines through. Her positive outlook, inner strength and never-give-up attitude have gotten her through the many challenges she has faced over time. She is a true survivor.
Lynn’s determination to keep her independence and to avoid institutionalization is unwavering. Her strong tenacity to remain living at home, despite the ever growing hurdles that come her way, is truly inspiring. Daily, Lynn depends upon caregivers to come into her home and provide her with extensive care including: transfers to and from her wheelchair, personal care, grocery shopping, meal preparation, in-home physiotherapy, as well as being her
attendants for therapeutic horseback riding, adaptive yoga, and pool therapy… which aid to better her health and add to her quality of life. Lynn refers to these caregivers as her “angels” for she feels truly blessed and grateful to have their help.
The daily service from Lynn’s caregivers is crucial to her well being. Unfortunately, the wage paid to these workers, through Lynn’s funding, is low. The work the caregivers do is physically demanding, and because they are not being compensated well, the caregivers frequently choose to move on. The result is that Lynn is often left unattended as she tries – yet again – to replace a caregiver who has left. Lynn needs financial help to increase her caregivers’ rate of pay, so that she is able to provide them with a living wage that will motivate them to remain with her.
Any help that you may be able to contribute toward
