A lot of you probably remember we lost a member of our community, Capptin (Austin) in early May of 2018. He was far too young and almost more tragically left behind a fiance and 2 year old son, both of whom were devastated. Nikki said that Aidan was running around asking where Daddy was after the accident. I lost it when I read that.
CapnLB and I are teaming up to help ease the pain of Xmas for Nikki and Aidan. I can only imagine what it will be like for them, that time of year is stressful enough without taking into account what happened. This is the third year in a row that we are undertaking this, last year we were able to raise almost $3,500!
I've been in touch with Nikki and have a list of things that Aidan would like. I've presented it to her as we want to make sure that he is taken care of for Xmas but I also want to make sure to get her things that will help her. She's working two jobs right now and I really want to help ease the burden, even if it's just a bit. So on top of the normal toys, clothes, etc we are planning on for Aidan I also want to grab a significant amount of Amazon, grocery and fuel cards for her. She doesn't know about these plans. She was overwhelmed that we wanted to help Aidan, I can only imagine what this extra will mean to her!
Originally we struggled with the decision to open this up to the public. We wanted to fund it ourselves and keep it quiet. Sgt Vanover, who helped get me in touch with her and others convinced us that other people from the community might like to help out. If you do want to help, even if it's a little, fantastic! Please don't feel obligated to do so, we recognize this is a hard time of year for EVERYONE.
For transparency this money will be going to me and I will be ordering what she wants. Capn and I are aiming for shipping everything to her, wrapped, in the second week of December.
