Update: During Hannah’s preventative surgery they discovered breast cancer that didn’t show up on imaging and she is starting Chemotherapy on Monday February 2nd for Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, triple negative breast cancer most common in BRCA1 mutation
*******************************
Hannah is positive for the BRCA1 mutation. Her mom died from complications of breast cancer at age 43 when Hannah was 16. Since then many members in her family have had cancer. 1 cousin died from it. When another cousin was diagnosed with breast cancer last year she reached out to me to help her schedule a mammogram. That started a flood of medical appointments. She has good insurance but there are lots of copays and time off work. Along with all of this she has had a couple of ear surgeries. She also has a condition called otosclerosus that is taking her hearing. She has a new cochlear implant. She will have another ear surgery in a few weeks. In December she will have both breasts, both ovaries and both fallopian tubes removed because she has over 90% of getting cancer in her lifetime. Because of her age she will require reconstructive surgery from her own tissue. That will be 2 more surgeries next year.
that’s a lot!
The medical bills already feel overwhelming.
That’s why we are asking for your help.
