Dear friends and compassionate souls,
My name is Malissa and I am reaching out to humbly request your support for my friend, Anetra, who is currently facing an immense battle against cancer. She needs our help to secure a car and cover medical expenses while she fights this relentless disease.
Despite her own challenges, Anetra has always been a pillar of support for others. She actively supports her children, including Jaleia (17) and Jay (23) and she helps with her son Najee’s (23) 2-year-old daughter. In addition, she organizes breast cancer lunches for survivors and those in treatment. She has been hosting these empowering lunches since January, and they have become a source of strength and community for many. Anetra is also a board member of the Delaware Valley Scleroderma Foundation, volunteering her time and assistance since 2015. She also helps support her sister's two kids, aged 19 and 16, after her sister sadly lost her battle with scleroderma.
Anetra's health challenges began in 2018 when she was diagnosed with AFIB & Tachycardia. In 2019, she experienced blood clots in her lungs and stroke-like symptoms which triggered FND, rendering her unable to speak, walk, and even struggling with bowel issues for several months. Then in 2021 she faced SVT and underwent cardiac ablation. Through all these hardships, Anetra's unwavering spirit and strength shined through.
Then Anetra's resilience was tested once again in January 2022 when she suffered a heart attack and further scans revealed the presence of Cancer. In February 2022, Anetra received a devastating diagnosis of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, specifically grade 3 stage 3C Triple Negative Breast Cancer. This is one of the most aggressive forms of cancer.
To combat her Cancer, Anetra commenced treatments in March 2022, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy together. In September 2022 she finished chemo and underwent a double mastectomy. In October 2022 she started 28 rounds of radiation. Currently, she is undergoing immunotherapy, which began in January 2023 and is set to conclude in July 2023. Despite enduring numerous treatments and experiencing the physical and emotional toll, Anetra continues to help others and her good spirit is truly extraordinary.
Transportation has become a critical concern for Anetra's daily treatment appointments and medical visits so she urgently needs a reliable car (the transmission died on the last one). However, due to her financial situation (living off of SSI solely), she is unable to buy one right now. I believe that by alleviating this financial burden and helping her secure a safe and dependable vehicle, we can contribute significantly to her overall well-being and peace of mind.
I have established this GoFundMe campaign, "Anetra's Cancer Fight: Restoring Independence," to assist Anetra in obtaining a car and ease her financial strain. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful impact on her journey toward recovery and stability.
