Dear Reader, I appreciate your attention;
I am twenty-nine years old, and I carry the weight of more years than that on my shoulders. My name is Samar , and my story is one of loss, love, and survival.
I used to have a life in Gaza — a home, a job, a steady income. It was stability in a place that knows little of peace. Then came the war. In a flash, everything was gone. My work vanished along with the office walls that once stood strong. I lost not just bricks and paper, but the life I had built with patience and hope.
Amid all this pain, my aunt, my second mother, was diagnosed with cancer. Her condition was serious, and staying in Gaza was not an option anymore. I traveled with her to Egypt, leaving behind the last pieces of a broken past, holding onto the one person who still needed me — and whom I still had.
For over a year, I cared for her. Every day was a battle — not just against her illness, but against the fear, the loneliness, and the burden of living in a place that wasn’t home. But I did it, with love and faith. I watched her smile in the middle of pain, I held her hand through every treatment, I whispered prayers into the dark when she couldn’t sleep.
Two months ago, she PASSED AWAY !!!
And now, I am here, far from home, with no beloved aunt, no job, and no source of income. Egypt has become a shelter and a struggle at the same time. The cost of living is high, and I no longer have anything to fall back on. I’ve been actively searching for work, but despite all efforts, I haven’t been able to find a good job.
I graduated with excellence from the Business Administration department, and I have always been passionate, organized, and committed to doing my best. But even with my degree, opportunities have been hard to find.
I don’t ask for much — only a chance to stand again, to work, and to rebuild my life with dignity.
