This fundraiser is for someone deeply loved — even if her name isn’t written here.
If you went to high school with us, you likely already know exactly who my best friend of 36 years is.
She was friends with every clique, a sincere hype girl, and our varsity soccer captain — strong, funny, resilient… and yes, famously voted “Most Likely to Bum a Ride.”
While that honor may have been bestowed in jest, it did actually become a forced truth.
For over 30 years, she has lived with severe epilepsy — navigating life with a level of strength and perseverance most people will never fully understand. And she has done it quietly, without asking for help, and without losing her spirit.
And now — for the first time in a long time — there is real reason for hope.
She recently underwent Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) surgery — a major step forward after decades of managing epilepsy. While it’s not an overnight fix, it represents something incredibly meaningful:
More independence.
More freedom.
A chance at a smoother road ahead.
At the same time, life has brought her into a new season — one that includes being back home with family, adjusting to a different pace, and continuing to navigate her health with the same quiet strength she always has.
She is not someone who asks for help.
She was hesitant about this — but she is aware of this fundraiser and understands it comes from a place of love.
With her 45th birthday on April 15th, my hope is to give her something simple but powerful:
a little more freedom in this next chapter.
Right now, her greatest joy is her brand-new niece.
Being able to take an Uber to go spend time with her — without worrying about cost or adding stress to anyone else — would mean more than words can say.
She also has her loyal dog by her side, a constant source of comfort — and like many of us know, those responsibilities don’t pause for life’s challenges.
How your support helps:
Out-of-pocket medical and medication expenses
Transportation (Uber rides, appointments, everyday independence)
Everyday living support while on a fixed income
Veterinary care for her dog
Creating breathing room during a full season of life
This is about recognizing her strength.
It’s about showing up for someone who has spent 30 years pushing through — and supporting her as she steps into a future that finally holds more freedom, mobility, and possibility.
If you feel moved to give, think of it as a “tank of gas,” a birthday gesture, or a small way to be part of her next chapter.
Every bit truly matters.
Thank you for being part of this. ⚔️
