My name is Cameron Perschall, and I was born and raised in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana. For over 11 years, I’ve poured my heart and soul into my career as a hairdresser. Through dedication and a lot of hard work, I’ve earned the trust of a loyal clientele, created relationships that have been the foundation of my success, and made a name for myself in the industry.
In 2021, I started over, moving to New York City and rebuilding an entire new clientele. This past year I decided to begin the process of transitioning into new fields, pursuing a career in Pilates and becoming a certified instructor. But, sadly, all of my hard work is currently in jeopardy. Just as I had finished my Pilates certification and on the way to the salon, I was struck by a car while riding a bicycle. The impact shattered my femur and broke my hip and has left me on a long road to recovery.
What makes matters worse is that this is my third hip surgery in 8 years. In August 2017, I was struck by a stray bullet in New Orleans, the victim of nearby gun violence. The bullet tore through my hip and landed me in a wheelchair for six months and crutches for three more. I was left with a cracked femur, no cartilage and constant arthritic pain.
Despite the odds, I fought my way back. I rebuilt my body and my business, but the damage was done. Doctors cautioned against the inevitable hip replacement, urging me to wait as long as possible, knowing how young I was. Almost four years later, the pain had become excruciating. The limitations on my life were overwhelming, and at just 28 years old, I was finally told that a total hip replacement was unavoidable. I had the surgery and worked to regain full mobility and function.
Now, I face the unimaginable challenge of recovering from my third hip surgery in a decade. My livelihood built on years of expertise and hard work is once again in jeopardy. I will be out of work for at least three months, with mounting medical bills and the weight of financial strain bearing down on me.
This is where I humbly ask for your support. Your generosity will help lift the burden of this financial stress, allowing me to focus on my recovery and reclaim the life I’ve fought so hard to build. Your donation, no matter the size, will make an immeasurable difference in my journey back to health and independence. Thank you for your generosity and for standing beside me in this difficult time.
