On February 12th, my sister, Camille Gonzalez’s entire world was turned upside down. After weeks of trying to figure out why she was experiencing sporadic brain seizures her doctors were able to pinpoint the root cause and provide a diagnosis.
Camille was diagnosed with a Grade 2 (partial Grade 3) Brain Glioma, which is an invasive brain tumor. While there is no current cure available, treatment is provided to prolong the quality of life. Not many people are familiar with brain gliomas; they creep in silently and take over brain matter and cells with quickness.
For those who don’t know Camille, she is one of the most caring individuals you could ever meet. She is always willing and ready to help others. Where she is usually the one offering others her light and her strength, this time it is our turn to be her strength and her light.
For treatment, Camille underwent brain surgery at the John Theurer Cancer Center at the HUMC to remove as much of the tumor as possible. This is just the beginning. The prognosis for Grade 2 Glioma is better when the tumor is able to be removed, but she will always have to remain in front of the growth as it will continue to be present in her brain. After surgery, we found out that only a certain percentage was able to be removed. In the hopes of removing the rest of the tumor Camille will begin the Standard of Care for brain Glioma - an intense treatment of radiation and chemotherapy.
We have created this GoFundMe on behalf of the Gonzalez-Huntsberry family to fund the immediate and upcoming medical expenses for treatment and travel that are required.
Camille's family and friends absolutely adore her and want to see her get the best care possible so she can continue to be the best wife, daughter, sister, friend and caretaker to her pets (Chubbs, Cooper and Penny) who are all center to her world.
The Gonzalez-Huntsberry family are moved by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers they have already received. They are grateful for friends and family, near and far, who have reached out to offer help. The family is beyond devastated by this news. Anything you can contribute is greatly appreciated. Please continue to lift Camille up in prayer.
