Camden Continental Fife & Drum Corp

The Tradition of the Camden Continentals

The Camden Continental Fife and Drum Corps is a musical organization that is home to the beautiful small town of Camden, NY.  The Camden Continentals have sounded the Central New York region since it's inception, in 1850.   We are the oldest continuous musical organization in New York State and from what we know, the oldest in the entire country.  Notably, the corps was used to train local Union Troops during the civil war period and participated in President Ulysses S. Grant's inaugural parade in 1869.  Over 160 years since its birth, the corps is still under the direction of the same family and is as strong, if not stronger than ever.

Why We Need Donations

Our instruments are in disrepair.

Our last instrument purchase came in the 1970s.  In their 40+ years of use,  these instruments have had several bouts with inclimate weather.  This, along with natural wear and tear, has left many of our instruments unserviceable.  We are attempting to fit the organization with a new set of instruments (fifes and drums) which according to estimates will cost upwards of $30,000.

In Closing...

We thank you for your consideration in donating your hard earned money to our organization.  Preserving our nation's musical heritage is of utmost importance to us and we appreciate you helping us in achieving our goal and helping us to provide the people of Central New York with a sound that is uniquely its own.

Here's to the next 160 years!
