On Thursday, March 28, 2019, our daughter, Aniah Moore (affectionately known as "Cupcake"), was rushed to Kaiser Roseville due to suffering symptoms from the Human Metapneumovirus. After some days of treatment in the hospital, and what looked to be improvement, things turned for the worse. Cupcake's organs became critically distressed and inflamed, and some not functioning. Due to her struggling to breathe and high flow oxygen not able to support her, she was rushed to ICU where she was placed on life support. Due to an even rapid decline in health, Cupcake was transferred to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at UC Davis in Sacramento, CA with respiratory failure.
Upon her arrival to UC Davis, a code Blue was called to which she had to be resuscitated multiple times. She was placed on ECMO (lung bypass), and was suffering from pulmonary hemorrhaging, liver, lung and kidney injury, and many other complications followed.
Our girl has truly gone through so much.
We are truly grateful to God she is no longer on ECMO, and is off life support. She's come such a long way by the grace of God! There is still a long journey ahead of her and many hurdles to still overcome, but we have faith that what the Lord has started in her life, He will complete it - bringing her out of this current state, WHOLE!
"Cupcake" is a joy to so many. From her joyful spirit and contagious laugh, to her many questions like, 'What's your name?", "What are you doing?", "Where are we going?" and "What else?", we want to see our spunky little girl up and running around again. It's been rough. We've shed many tears. Yet when the tears stop flowing, we still find strength to lift our hands and say, "Yet will I trust you, Lord!"
Due to the severity of Cupcake's condition, and the trauma her body and brain has encountered in these almost 6 weeks, she is still in critical condition.
Cupcake will need intensive physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and a lot of preventative care. In the weeks ahead, Cupcake will be admitted into rehab, where she'll learn how to speak, walk, and be taught how to function all over again, and much more.
As we prepare for the week's ahead, we are asking for some help during this season we're in. All contributions will ensure that Cupcake's needs outside of her medical insurance will be covered, go towards medical equipment to provide the best assistance for Cupcake in and out of rehab, and assist us in areas where its become financially tight (ex: gas, nearby lodge, food, etc.).
Your thoughtful gift will be a huge blessing to our family, and we do NOT take your act of love for granted. We are humbled and truly grateful for all of you who have been praying, and continue to do so, believing God with us for our daughter's complete healing.
With a sincere heart,
Mommy & Daddy, Vanessa and Earnest Moore
We still say, "YES LORD!"
