Every day in Los Angeles, the Center for the Pacific Asian Family works with men, women, and children who have experienced domestic violence and/or sexual assault. We hear horrific stories of violence and we strive to break this cycle by working to build a community where violence is absolutely not acceptable. More importantly, we are there to support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault by providing a 24 hour multi-lingual hotline, crisis intervention, and an emergency and transitional shelter program. CPAF is fortunate to have amazing and compassionate people on our staff and as volunteers.
We at CPAF were heartbroken and enraged to hear that the Mother of one of our dearest Family Advocates, Toya Brill, was brutally physically attacked and sexually assaulted in her own home a few weeks ago in Bangkok, Thailand. Toya flew to Thailand to be with her Mom as soon as she heard of the attack.
What happened to Toya’s mother is inconceivable. No one should ever experience this kind of violence, and especially in their own home. We are sad one moment and angry the next. Since finding out what happened to her Mom, Toya has not only had to be the strong Daughter for her Mother but continues to be a fierce Advocate, who is seeking justice for what happened to her Mother. CPAF wanted to find a way to help. Needing to coordinate medical care and finding a new home for her mother will no doubt be a financial strain for Toya and her family. Not to mention, Toya is indefinitely across the world from her own support system, husband and two children, and her work. Understanding how the need for emergency funds can ultimately ease and help Toya and her Mother’s healing process, CPAF has setup a Go-Fund Me account.
All donations through this site will go directly to Toya to help her Mother cover her expenses and are not tax deductible. These funds will also make it possible for Toya to continue advocating for her Mother and to make sure she is safe and well taken care of.
Please help us in supporting Toya and her Mother through this incredibly difficult time. We greatly appreciate your support!
Thank you,
Center for the Pacific Asian Family (CPAF)
