CLARA - Recital Master Muziektheater - Esmee Mardjan

Hallo allemaal!

Ik studeer op 20 februari af van de Master Muziektheater op Fontys Academy of the Arts in de rol van Clara uit het stuk The Light in the Piazza. Ik krijg van mijn opleiding genoeg geld om op de avond zelf met en pianist te kunnen zingen, maar omdat ik van het bijzondere verhaal van Clara graag een voorstelling wil maken, zoek ik een manier om repetities met de pianist en de regisseur te kunnen betalen. Dit doe ik voor een deel uit eigen zak en voor een deel met deze crowdfunding. Alle beetjes helpen!

Over de voorstelling:

Adam Guettel schreef de muziek en lyrics voor het muziektheaterstuk The Light in the Piazza. Het verhaal dat zich afspeelt in Florence, Italië, vertelt over een Amerikaanse vrouw, Margaret, en haar dochter, Clara. Door een ongeluk in haar jeugd heeft Clara hersenletsel opgelopen en heeft ze zich op mentaal en emotioneel vlak op een abnormale manier ontwikkelt. De bezorgde Margaret is beschermend. Tijdens een vakantie in Italië maakt Clara zich van haar moeder los.

Deze voorstelling gaat over kwetsbaarheid en imperfectie, over volwassen worden, liefhebben en de controle los durven laten.

Hello everyone!

On February 20th, I will graduate from the Master of Music Theatre at Fontys Academy of the Arts by performing the role of Clara in The Light in the Piazza. My school provides enough funding for me to perform with a pianist on the evening itself, but because I want to turn Clara's beautiful story into a full-fledged performance, I’m looking for a way to cover the costs of rehearsals with the pianist and director. Part of this will be funded out of my own pocket, and the rest through this crowdfunding effort. Every little bit helps!

About the performance:

Adam Guettel composed the music and wrote the lyrics for the music theatre piece The Light in the Piazza. The story, set in Florence, Italy, follows an American woman, Margaret, and her daughter, Clara. Due to an accident in her youth, Clara suffered a brain injury, causing her mental and emotional development to take an unusual path. The concerned Margaret is highly protective of her daughter. During a vacation in Italy, Clara begins to break free from her mother’s control.

This performance is about vulnerability and imperfection, about growing up, loving, and finding the courage to let go.
