Hey y'all! I’m an incoming Haitian-American law student at Howard University, the #1 Historically Black College in the United States and, my dream school. I’ve aspired to study law since I was 8 years old! I’ve centered my work and education on making society more fair and just for everyone through education, equitable policies, and opportunity for all. For me, law school is the next step in my journey to accomplish this mission with the final goal being to teach law as a professor one day (huzzah for academia!).
Here are some facts: Black male attorneys are only 3% of the total population of lawyers in the United States. AfroLatino lawyers are even less than that (half of 1%).
Representation matters! Especially now more than ever.
As the first lawyer in my family, I’m ready to continue a legacy of justice in the tradition of Thurgood Marshall (Howard alum!), Sonia Sotomayor and the many other lawyers of color who have paved the way for folks like myself to be here today.
As anyone who has moved knows, it can get expensive. I’m moving from New York City to Washington, DC with my vehicle and could use some support to offset the costs of moving and settling in/first month's rent, etc.
Since first year law students are forbidden from working, I’m relying on my personal savings and the generosity of those who want to support a black, abolitionist, law student on this new journey! Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
