Tramps on the Tramps for CITTA
Tax deductible
WHY? It's my birthday! I wanted to do something fun and challenging with the help from my friends for a good cause. You think jumping on a trampoline for 30 mins is easy? I've never done it nor have my friends. To our embarrassment, I'll make arrangements so that you can see us Tramps tramping via Facebook, working hard for our donations. Please support our team. No donation is too small or too big. :D
GOAL? Since I'm turning 49...I thought $4900 would be the lucky number. Someone once told me "if you don't ask, you'll never get". I'm throwing it out there to the universe, even if we don't reach our goal, all donations will be receive by CITTA . No amount is ever too small, every dollar gets us closer to accomplishing our school. June 10th will be our final day for collecting donations.
WHY CITTA? I was introduced to CITTA 2 years ago by a friend about a project in Jaisalmer, India and since have been doing what I can to help get the girl school started. The school's economic center will train and provide work for the girls after they have finished school. With education and an income to provide for their families, I believe their quality of life will significantly improve. Without education and work I believe many of the girls would be married off at a young age.
ABOUT JAISALMER PROJECT:
Jaisalmer Girls School and Women's Empowerment Center.
Jaisalmer District in the state of Rajasthan is located on the far western border of India stretching into the Thar Desert. Jaisalmer City itself is somewhat remote and built mostly using golden sandstone found locally. Camels and sand dunes are a big tourist draw to the area. Unfortunately Jaisalmer also is one of the lowest in education indicators and opportunities for girls in India. Education for girls is not considered necessary in the communities. Also, the beautiful traditions in the region of weaving and embroidery are rapidly fading away as villagers fight to maintain food for their families survival.
CITTA has initiated a girls school and economic center which will help provide work as well as preserve the traditions that belong to all of us as world heritage. Providing skills and income to many of the girls as they graduate will entice the families to send the girls to school.
This project will educate girls, preserve culture, provide jobs. Creating women as change agents to move back into their family and provide additional income as well as information on hygiene, nutrition and safe childcare will help transform the region.
