Help CFF Rebuild After Devastating Barn Fire

Barn fires. They’re every sanctuary’s worst nightmare. We work so hard to keep our animals safe and healthy, but there are some things that are simply out of our control.
When the caregiver at Charlotte’s Freedom Farm went to bed on Wednesday night, all of the animals in their care were safe and sound. But when she was awoken in the middle of the night by one of their donkeys’ braying, what she found was devastating. Their barn had caught fire, and their animals were in imminent danger. The caregiver was able to open doors, break down walls, and carry out most of the residents. Despite her brave, fast action, the fire destroyed the entire barn and the building next to it, and took the lives of at least 10 of the sanctuary’s beloved residents, including Forest the mini pony, pictured below:
Charlotte’s Freedom Farm is meticulous about the safety of their animals. They had an electrician make sure everything was safe before they even moved any animals onto the property. There was nothing plugged into the outlets in the barn at all the night of the fire. While the cause of the fire is still unknown, it is plausible that some of the hay in their loft may have spontaneously combusted. Unfortunately, under the right weather conditions, it is possible for hay to do that.
The animal sanctuary community is made up of people who love fiercely, give selflessly, and always put the animals first. Goats of Anarchy, Twist of Fate, Rancho Relaxo, and Enchanted Farm Sanctuary are calling on this community to lift up Charlotte’s Freedom Farm in their time of need and work together to raise funds for them to rebuild. Nothing will ever bring back the precious souls who lost their lives in the fire, but we can and will provide support as the team at CFF works to find the way forward.
