We have decided as a family to complete different challenges throughout November to raise and donate to the High Dependency Unit and the Coronary Care Unit in Ninewells.
As many of you know in November 2019 our mum was admitted to hospital with a suspected severe case of gastroenteritis. Very quickly the hospital identified that it was in fact sepsis and our mum’s body was shutting down.
We as a family received the call to prepare for the worst as they did not think she would survive the following 24 hours as they could not stabilise her.
Our mum was in hospital for a total of 2 months fighting against the infection whilst learning to walk again, thankfully she survived. She still continues to battle with arthritis and discitis in her back and her ongoing weakness with her heart but she fought hard knowing she had too much to live for ❤️
During her stay in hospital there were still many hurdles once doctors and nurses managed to stabilise her. We received several phone calls and discussions with doctors about whether she would survive or fully recover.
We as a family will be forever grateful to every doctor, nurse, student nurse, cleaners and Physiotherapists who looked after our mum throughout this time. We can’t put into words how thankful we are but fundraising allows us in some way to give back.
Mandie is going to run 90 miles throughout November
Terri is going to cycle 400 miles throughout November
Jodie and our mum are going to walk 90 miles throughout November.
We will track our progress daily and post this via social media, if you are in a position and would like to help us reach our target please donate through the link.
Any donation is much appreciated.
We as a family will hand over the donation at the end of November as our mum promised she would return for a visit when she was back to being more like herself ❤️
